Can I Cancel My Divorce Petition in New Jersey?

Elizabeth (Liz) was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey and is proud to be a product of Catholic schools that instilled in her the desire to always do her best and to be considerate and mindful of those around her. As a first-generation daughter of hard-working immigrant parents, Liz maintains a connection to her roots and maintains fluency in Italian. Liz is a graduate of the Academy of St. Aloysius where she honed her Latin skills (thanks Sr. Helen Jean!) but discovered science was not really for her. She then attended the only Jesuit college in the State of New Jersey, St. Peter’s University (formerly St. Peter’s College). Having discovered a passion for literature and writing, Liz graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English and with minors in Women’s Studies and Classical Studies. After working for several years doing title, real estate, and mortgage work, Liz was intrigued by the idea of continuing to do that work, but from the lawyer’s vantage point. While continuing to work, Liz also attended and graduated from Seton Hall University earning her J.D. in 2000. Following her graduation, Liz was thrilled to serve as Law Clerk to the Honorable Elijah A. Miller, J.S.C. in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County Vicinage during his tenure in the Family Part.
Since that time, Liz has focused her career on the practice of family law where she can be impactful and useful in a real way to the clients she serves. Through the years, she has gladly volunteered her legal skills for Legal Services of Northwest Jersey, Project Self Sufficiency, community workshops and fundraising efforts for many local charities. Liz has been court-appointed to serve as a Guardian ad litem for children in matrimonial matters and to serve as pro-bono counsel for indigent clients. She has been a member of the Early Settlement Panel program, since becoming eligible to serve, and has served in Sussex, Morris, Passaic, Union and Essex counties. Liz completed the court-approved training program to become a mediator in 2010 and has engaged in the private practice of mediation for clients since that time, which is a very useful tool for resolving disputes. Within the past year, she further completed the Parent Coordination Training to assist in higher conflict divorce matters.
As of 2017, Liz became recognized by the Supreme Court as a Certified Matrimonial Attorney. Liz was honored to receive a client satisfaction award in 2015 under the criteria established by Martindale-Hubbell for said distinction and has celebrated her inclusion to the Super Lawyers list, which is based upon peer recognition and nomination, as well as professional achievement, consistently from 2019 through present. One of her matrimonial matters was involved in appellate litigation that led to the publication of the opinion which altered the methodology for addressing relocation case within the State itself; A.J. v. R.J. 461 N.J. Super.173 (App. Div. 2019)
In addition to family law, Liz has expanded her legal services to include servicing clients with residential real estate transactions and being an accessible and affordable option for simple estate planning needs such as a Last Will & Testament, Power of Attorney and Medical Proxies.
As always, it is her desire and goal to bring the highest level of quality legal and professional service to all clients.
