Shari Lee Genser, Esq.

Shari Lee Genser is a compassionate and strategic family law attorney with over a decade of experience representing individuals in divorce, custody, domestic violence, and other complex family law matters throughout New Jersey.

Shari began her legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Nancy Sivilli, J.S.C., in the Family Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex County. She was then awarded a prestigious Equal Justice Works Fellowship, where she developed and led a teen dating violence prevention project at Essex-Newark Legal Services. During her fellowship and subsequent work as a staff attorney, she provided critical legal advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and low-income families in need of family law representation. After entering private practice, Shari was appointed to the Essex-Newark Legal Services Board of Trustees, where she presently serves as Secretary.

Since transitioning to private practice in 2015, Shari has worked at boutique matrimonial firms where she continues to serve clients with empathy and integrity. Her practice includes all aspects of family law, including divorce, equitable distribution, alimony, child custody and parenting time, child support, and domestic violence.

Shari remains deeply committed to public service. She has volunteered with the Women’s Center Legal Clinic at the County College of Morris, Volunteer Lawyers for Justice, and Partners for Women and Justice. She also serves as an Early Settlement Panelist and volunteers with the Essex County Non-Dissolution Consent Conference Program.

An active member of the legal community, Shari currently serves as a Trustee of the Essex County Bar Association. She has been recognized with numerous honors, including:
